“ Shoyu sushi restaurant is hidden in the back yards near Loi Kroh road. It’s not a place you stumble upon by chance. I would never have found this place was it not for google maps / reviews. The service can be very inconsistent: the second time I came here a very young waiter was serving and he didn’t speak English and had no idea what he was doing. It seemed the kitchen had broken down as well and the food took forever to arrive. But the food is worth waiting for. I had California roll and squid both delicious. It’s a very humble shack but there is nothing humble about the food here The sushi chef is brilliant. You can tell both by taste and looks of the sushi that he is professionally trained. The service is very welcoming and the atmosphere is friendly although the place almost looks as if they just installed a kitchen in an old garage (they probably did) and not a fancy American garage but a simple Asian one. So not exactly an impressive restaurant or a place to go on a first date. The floor is concrete the roof is made og tin plates. Prices are very reasonably and the amazing food and the VERY reasonable prices more than make up for the humble surroundings. Iam sure this chef will end up in a trendy restaurant. ”
